Service Description

Class overview: This 6-week session will be all about the basics of wheel throwing. This class is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! Bio: Anna is a ceramicist living in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. She began her ceramics journey in the beginning of 2022 and hasn't looked back since. Over the past few years, she has loved being a teaching assistant at Artshack Brooklyn and recently became an instructor at doclay. She chooses to work mainly with darker clay bodies and loves to use finishing techniques that celebrate natural, unpredictable textures. She has learned that part of the fun with ceramics is experimenting and allowing yourself to love what comes out of the kiln, even if it's not what you were expecting! Anna has found so much fulfillment in connecting with her community through clay and is excited to continue to share the joy that playing with clay can bring. Thursdays 6:30pm-9pm From 11/4 - 12/9 There are no make-ups for missed classes or extra studio time, unless otherwise specified.
